Stone from space Moldavit: useful physical and medicinal properties, scope, photo

The unique moldavite stone, called Vltavin in its homeland, is mined in the only deposit on the planet, namely in the south of the Czech Republic. This unusual mineral is a kind of gift to mankind from the Cosmos - green glass fragments, later called moldavite, were formed as a result of a meteorite falling to the Earth's surface. However, there are two more versions of the origin of this stone. One of them is close to the one mentioned above, except that, instead of a meteorite, a comet appears in it.

The second is more curious and crazier: aliens allegedly visited our earth, and stones of incredible beauty were formed as a result of the melting of the rock by radiation emitted by an alien ship.

The truth about the origin

Scientists still believe that the true version is the first, and Vltavin has a meteorite nature. Using the method of radiocarbon analysis, it was possible to establish that the age of moldavite formations is about 15 million years. Archaeologists have found jewelry and household items from this mineral dating back to the Paleolithic era.

The epicenter of the meteorite fall is the border region between the Czech Republic and Germany, more specifically, a place on the German coast of the Vltava River, near Stuttgart. The Germans called it the Moldau River - hence the name of the mineral.

Vltavin is mined from the bottom of the river. As a rule, pebbles are not at all large in size - about 3-4 cm in diameter and weighing 7-8 g.

Czech geologists estimate the total amount of the space mineral at 3,000 tons.

Moldavite was first described in the late 18th century. Josef Mayer, however, the scientist mistook the stone for chrysolite of volcanic origin. In fact, the mineral belongs to tektites - rocks that are melted glass fragments formed as a result of the fall of an asteroid, comet or meteorite.

Physico-chemical characteristics

The basis of the chemical composition of moldavite is silicon oxide.

The hardness of the stone on the Mohs scale is 6 +/- 0.5 points, and the melting point is 1300 degrees Celsius. The stone has shades of green: from light to dark, almost black, as well as surface heterogeneity, high transparency and a characteristic glassy luster, for which the stone is sometimes called "bottle". Another feature of the stone, which can be seen not only live, but also in the photo of moldavite, is the bubbles. They were formed during the fall of a meteorite at an altitude of about 25 km above the Earth.

Esotericism and astrology

The magical properties of moldavite are directly related to its unearthly origin. The mineral helps to tune in with the vibrations of the Universe, cleanse and correct the biofield, maintain energy and vigor even during stressful periods, reveal clairvoyant abilities or simply develop a sixth sense. Not only the divinatory skill and other superpowers are associated with the energy of the stone, but also creativity in any of its manifestations. Jewelry and amulets from this semi-precious stone favor not only creative success, but also the achievement of material well-being.

Vltavin protects from envy, evil eye, aggression or hatred of others, and also helps the owner to etch any negativity out of himself. The mineral softens any negative traits of the owner and contributes to the establishment of non-violent communication with loved ones, colleagues, and just acquaintances. Helps to make any communication more pleasant and fruitful.

As for astrologers, no matter how paradoxical it may sound, but precisely because of the cosmic origin of the bottle stone, astrologers cannot determine which sign of the Zodiac Moldavite is most suitable for. Partly, also because the mineral does not belong to any of the earthly elements. Nevertheless, by experience, astrologers managed to identify the following patterns:

  • For Cancers, Virgos and Sagittarius, vltavin products will help to find inner harmony and a sense of home;
  • Aquarius and Libra will learn a lot about themselves, perhaps it will be unprecedented courage and fortitude shown in an extreme situation;
  • Aries, Taurus, Capricorn and Gemini will learn to trust their intuition;
  • For Leos, moldavite jewelry will help hone managerial skills and enhance charisma.

But Pisces and Scorpions should be more careful with the space stone. Astrologers believe that inexperienced esotericists belonging to these zodiac categories can fall into an altered state of consciousness if they approach magical manipulations with Vltavin with insufficient caution.

In stone treatment

Lithotherapists treat moldavite and its healing properties with great reverence, including:

  • the ability to stabilize pressure, normalize the work of the cardiovascular system;
  • weakening or elimination of headaches, depending on their intensity;
  • an increase in the general tone of the body, a rejuvenating effect on it;
  • help in the fight against stress, phobic disorders, improve mood;
  • improving the quality of sleep, as well as cognitive functions: memory, attention, concentration, working capacity;
  • improvement of vision;
  • Acceleration of metabolism, which is necessary for weight loss.

A therapeutic effect is achieved in three ways: by contemplating a stone, by tactile contact with it, and by drinking mineral-charged water. It all depends on what problem a person is concerned about: to calm the nerves and get rid of a headache, contemplation and meditation are enough, to relieve all kinds of inflammation and spasms, tactile interaction, perhaps massage, is necessary. Healing water improves immunity, removes toxins from the body, and normalizes the functioning of the abdominal organs.

It is worth noting that after each use as a “medicine”, the stone needs energy cleaning. It is not difficult, the Vltavin product just needs to be washed under cold water.

The same applies to normal, "hygienic" cleaning. The stone is afraid of chemistry, so it is strictly forbidden to use it as a cleaning agent. Soap this rule also applies.

Moldavite is a very fragile mineral. Mechanical damage must be avoided.

How to recognize an imitation. Price

When buying moldavite, you should be extremely careful. The only place where you can be guaranteed to buy real Vltavins is the Czech Republic. And even there you should not buy stones from your hands. There are several specialized boutiques in Prague. God alone knows what Russian online stores sell under the guise of a mineral.

In order not to be fooled, and not to buy ordinary glass at the price of meteorite glass, you need to remember a few simple rules:

  • - Natural moldavite is not too bright;
  • - Usually the stone has a mossy green color;
  • - The surface of the Vltavin is never smooth due to internal amorphism;
  • - Ideally transparent samples are calculated in units, most often a high degree of transparency of the stone indicates that an imitation is in front of the buyer.
  • - The mineral tends to heat up, but this process takes place very slowly compared to the heating of ordinary glass.

Now let's compare the price lists for moldavite in Czech retail outlets and Russian online stores.

Let's start with the Czech Republic. The price will be presented in euros.

  • A small pendant in a cheap metal frame - from 5 euros;
  • A set of jewelry in a silver frame - from 55;
  • Silver earrings and a ring with premium moldavin inserts - 220 euros;
  • An uncut stone weighing about 23 grams - 200;

Now to the Russian prices for moldavite (in thousands of rubles).

  • Faceted vltavin (3.1 - 5.2 carats) - 16-17 thousand;
  • Raw stone weighing 2-7 g - from 4 to 14;
  • Pendant in a silver frame - about 8 thousand;
  • Silver ring with Vltavin insert - about 15 thousand.

The description of a piece of jewelry should certainly indicate the origin of the stone. It is highly desirable to have a certificate.

Scope of application

Currently, moldavite is used exclusively in the jewelry industry. Masters use stones in their original form, occasionally lightly polished. Thus, each decoration is one of a kind. No conveyor.

Small stones are used as inserts in earrings, rings, pendants, as pendants for key rings. Necklaces, beads, bracelets are collected from larger samples.

Most valued are spherical and maximally “wrinkled” specimens.
